PGP: Pretty Good Privacy

Hey, take this lock and secure the box of goodies you’re sending me. I’ll unlock it with my own key! A long time ago, I frequented blogs and websites where authors provided strange, unintelligible text prefixed with ‘-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----’ to be included with any message sent to them. This made me ponder what this text was for. I did some research, but it didn’t make much sense to me then. My curiosity faded, and I stopped bothering to search the internet for answers. Later in my quest to find an alternative to Gmail, I stumbled upon ProtonMail. I loved the user interface, but my confrontation with PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) prompted me to delve deeper into my previous research. The email service revolves around PGP; without it, the service ceases to be as “private and secure” as they claim. Leveraging my grit, I finally had my “Eureka” moment. Unlike Archimedes, I didn’t discover something entirely new, but I gained a deeper understanding of how PGP ensures securit...

Samsung Galaxy Pocket GT-S5300 Wont Start Past GT-S5300 and SAMSUNG display!

The brain almost exploding, heartbeat racing, and traumatic confusion ensue! Those are the experiences one goes through when one's dear smartphone crashes. I had this experience when I was experimenting with my GT-S5300. It began with a desire to write some Amharic symbols in reply to a friend in Ethiopia. The phone was not able to display and write Amharic symbol. Therefore, I had to find a way to root my phone so that I could Install Amharic fonts. The onset of the doom began as follows: Download RootExplorer.apk  Install the RootExplorer in the smartphone. Now download custom DroidSans.ttf font. Open RootExplorer application in the phone and browse to root/system/font then paste DroidSans.ttf  Download and install Keyboard-latest.apk  I blissfully followed the above procedure gracefully. I then tinkered with the phone writing Amharic for six hours. When the Amharic urge died I needed a way to revert back to the default Android fonts but I did not know how. Wi...

Evolved Windows OS

For some time I decided to be The Darwin of Microsoft Operating System. Unlike Charles Darwin, I need some kind of time machine. Actually , I hoped into VMWare virtual machine and with awe thrill, I landed on MS-DOS 4.0! At first, the entire experience was like looking for a needle in an hay stack. The installation process was hectic, I felt how Mark Zbikowski went through while implementing this evolutionary software architectural piece. The Command Line interpret ing my commands was akin to holding rocket launcher on my shoulders - talk of big guns bro when describing this. Much as it has a lot of power ; it likes to nag, no wonder it was dumped. who would like nags? NOT Me. The Orangutan MSDOS 4.0 lost its hunch back and became MSDOS 6.22. Just like its predecessor, it nags a little but with a lot of commands. No mouse support to issue commands. I toyed with it a little and send it to extinction. Windows 3.1. This is the homo errectus version of windows operating sy...
